The MC111CS is a media converter that transfers data from a UTP 100Base-TX copper connection to 100Base-FX fiber optic (or vice versa). It uses WDM technology to transmit and receive data over a single fiber cable, thereby saving half the cabling cost.
Designed in accordance with the IEEE 802.3u 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX standards, the MC111CS is intended for use with single-mode fiber optic cable with an SC connector. It supports long-wavelength (LX) laser specifications with the maximum retransmission rate over the cable. It operates at 1550 nm for data transmission and 1310 nm for data reception. Therefore, the device at the other end that the MC111CS communicates with should operate at 1310 nm for transmitting data and 1550 nm for receiving data.
The MC112CS is another TP-LINK media converter and is just one example of converters that can work together with the MC111CS. Other features of this model include the ability to operate as a standalone device (independent of a chassis) or with TP-LINK’s 19″ media converter chassis, automatic MDI/MDI-X detection for the TX port, auto-negotiation for the TX port, and LEDs on the front panel to display operating status.
The MC111CS provides single-mode fiber transmission over long distances of up to 20 km. It complies with the 802.3u 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX standards. The Link Fault Passthrough and Far End Fault functions minimize downtime caused by link failures. It uses WDM technology to transmit and receive data over a single fiber cable.
